United Kingdom - Bristol
The English Language Centre Bristol (ELC Bristol) was founded in 1969. It was the first English language school in Bristol. The founders, John and Margaret, ran the school for more than 40 years. ELC Bristol remains a family-run school with the same student-centered ethos, but it has now moved—along with all teachers and staff—to a beautiful, award-winning building in the heart of Clifton, less than a 5-minute walk from its previous locations at Pembroke and Abon House.
ELC Bristol is an innovative language school located in the lively university city of Bristol. Known for its nightlife, theatres, shopping, music scene, and street art, Bristol is a vibrant student city. The lively harbourside is popular with students, and the city offers a wide variety of international restaurants.
The English Language Centre Bristol is situated in a fine building with a private garden, in a safe, quiet, and leafy part of Clifton—one of Bristol’s most attractive areas. The school is close to Clifton College, the expansive Downs parkland, the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, and the University of Bristol. The main school building is just a 7-minute walk from St. John’s House, our year-round self-catering student residence.
ELC Bristol has consistently been ranked as one of the top English language schools in the country, according to British Council inspectors’ reports. To this day, we remain the joint number one school out of more than 500 in the UK—an achievement that makes us very proud.
