China - Beijing
Founded in Beijing in 2005, That's Mandarin was the first language school in China to combine modern in-person and online teaching methods. Officially accredited by China's Ministry of Education, it has grown into a leading school for Chinese language learning, with multiple campuses across China and students coming from all over the world. In response to the rise of online education, the school launched "Mandarin Cafe" in 2010, an e-learning platform. A year later, in 2011, a new branch opened in Shanghai. Expansion continued with two more branches in Chengdu and Hangzhou in 2022, followed by a Suzhou branch in 2024. The school offers intensive group courses, part-time programs, and private tuition.
That's Mandarin delivers Chinese courses using creative teaching methods and cutting-edge technology to make learning more effective and enjoyable. The school developed the "NihaoCafe" platform, which allows students to attend classes anywhere, anytime. It also created "Chinese Link Words" (previously called "Smart Lingo"), a technique that helps learners retain new vocabulary faster and more effectively than traditional methods. At That's Mandarin, you become part of an international community. The school organizes weekly and weekend activities to help you connect with others—whether exploring Chinese landmarks with classmates, attending events, or visiting local spots. It's an excellent way to practice Chinese and build global friendships.
The Beijing campus is located just a ten-minute walk from Dongzhimen Subway Station, in one of the capital's liveliest districts. The location offers easy access to Sanlitun, Beijing's top destination for shopping, dining, and cafes. Strolling through the neighborhood is a fun experience in itself—and a great chance to practice Chinese. The school occupies a central building designed for comfort and productivity, with an inspiring atmosphere. Accessible via Beijing Subway Lines 13 and 2, the campus features bright, well-equipped classrooms with computers, whiteboards, and Wi-Fi, facilitating Chinese learning through the NihaoCafe platform. There is also a rooftop terrace and a garden, creating a calm and relaxing environment perfect for studying Chinese in Beijing.
