China - Shanghai
That’s Mandarin started in Beijing in 2005 as China’s first school to blend classroom teaching with cutting-edge online learning. Officially accredited by China’s Ministry of Education, it has since become a leading Chinese language school, with campuses across several Chinese cities serving students from around the world. In 2010, responding to the rise of online learning, the school launched its "NihaoCafe" digital platform. The Shanghai branch opened in 2011, followed by new branches in Chengdu and Hangzhou in 2022, and Suzhou in 2024. Course offerings include intensive group classes, part-time courses, and private lessons.
That’s Mandarin arranges weekly and weekend activities to explore Chinese landmarks and attend cultural events, helping you become part of a global community where you can practice Chinese and build international friendships. The NihaoCafe platform lets you access your lessons anytime, anywhere. That’s Mandarin is licensed by China’s Ministry of Education, accredited by IALC, and recognized under Germany’s Bildungsurlaub program.
The Shanghai campus sits in a prime central location – a five-minute walk from Changping Road Station (Line 7) or 15 minutes from Jing’an Temple Station (Line 2). From the school’s terrace, you can enjoy sweeping views of the area. Classrooms are comfortable, bright, and equipped with computers, whiteboards, and Wi-Fi, making it easy to use the NihaoCafe platform. There’s also a rooftop terrace where you can relax with tea or coffee, take in the Shanghai skyline, and recharge with classmates between lessons.
